Halihó! Magyarul a kövi bejegyzésben olvashatsz. Addig olvasd el legutóbbi posztom itt 🙂
You, dear non-hungarian reader probably may be interested in Islamic world regardless you’re muslim or not, but I undertook the mission to specialize the “Hijab Story by Khadija” series about muslimahs and their world, including me and other sisters I know personally or from the public. It doesn’t mean I don’t write about the religion, which is impossible based on the theme, but if you’re interested in details and don’t feel like to search over the Internet for some datas or you’re wondering about something else, then please feel free to ask your question at the comments below the posts!
I reply you as soon as possible with the necessary source in sha Allah. 😊
But I want to compare now my little experiences how is job search or being self-employed as a hijabi muslimah in two country. In west is typical that woman with hijab is rejected often so I discovered what possibilities we, alien headscarfed women have in two very different culture.
Career of foreign hijabi girl in Indonesia vs Hungary:
You know, in my homeland, wearing hijab ( = body-covering and modest behavior in a nutshell) is still very unusual like in lot of europian country, but when I went to Indonesia I had to experient people’s gaze at me all over my staying there. Me, naive girl thought, finally there i can melt in the background until I arrived: local ones points at me, whispers to each other ears with dropped jaw and make you the main topic at the restaurant next to your table, lol. White (or as they call “bule”) hijabi is this much rare, I’d say even super-rare and actually if you wish to be popular in an easy way, that’s your key to use to be succesful at the muslim side of Far East. You can get a role at least as a figurante in one of the local soap opera or just being a guest in a TV show where you have to say only few sentence and continue to smile at the camera.
Ooor if you’re a diligant worker there, and not desiring superficial fame as me, your identity also a big bonus which helps you to climb the career ladder faster, in your own enterprise too. A pretty face + a scarf and you’re on the top. You just can’t help.
Ok, you need some charisma too… Smile nicely and wait for someone to discover you. 😄
Actually, becoming known reachable in Hungary too if you want your voice to be heared, becoz local media loves to grab the chance if it is about muslims, thanks to the immigration and terrorism cases, which they use as a saint, “christian” device to darken muslim community. The big difference is here instead of glamour some society rather try to overshadow the point of your speak or pick a quarrel (don’t be afraid, go smile, certain people gonna find this suspicious as well) , so always focus on being understandable and clear, don’t give people surface on you to attack. Wonderful for me, when someone stands up and showing example…
But, if you more want to walk on your way getting closer to self-realization and get a bit glamour too and it’s not you to sink deep in the questions of Islam at an interview, alhamdulillah, you have your chance for that, especially in the capital, Budapest. Nowadays hungarian muslimahs preveil as an individual and connect to each other to improve their works in a very smart way. So if you’re suitable, you can be a dealer/advirtising face of a muslim/arabic accessories shop or even a photo model of a local fashion brand, for example Anwaryan, which founded by two local, polimath muslimah. Well, it doesn’t mean you can expect to be rich and popular, since these ones more like a voluntary work and Hungary definitely not about people swimming in high salaries, but if you are clever, with these works you can lay a well-designed base together with your name and start to build your image on it. Not impossible, just have to make a plan and work with all of your heart making it come true.

Since world made up of contrasts, if you planning to live in Hungary for some reason and you are from Near/Far East or having african roots + pretty face, then you are an exotic to notice easily.
But smiling is not enough to discover your talent, you MUST have a minimal charisma and a good style. 😄
Since when am I a hijabi?
I’m wearing scarf placed on my head since around middle of August 2015, but I’m a muslim since 26th of July, 2015. Can say, I started to use it quite soon and despite some hard time for nowadays feels like cannot exist without it anymore.
Do the scarf prevent me from working on being succesful?
Not really. Fails are fails, no matter you wear a plus material or not, and possibilities like that as well. The only thing which can prevent muslimahs from putting their ideas in reality are their thoughts of themselves and giving too much anxious attention to their environment’s opinion. Who cares? Yes, some people don’t like to see you with headscarf if you’re a western lady, but no need to stop yourself from getting what you want and deserve. Because you do deserve it. All of us deserve self-realization. Among others, for example I like to write (I mean not just smartass articles like that. 😄)
I’ve met lot of indonesian muslim lady with whom I made wonderful friendships alhamdulillah, and they are the best examples for me. Most of them not just great housewives and mothers, but creative business-minded women too. Some of them have their own handmade clothing and/or handbag brand like Monkey Moby or Kinanti, street food buffet like Grillház (curiosity: the name comes from Hungary 😊), financial services and being one of the founder of real estate agency like Lingua Property.

All in all, if you yearn to create something and already figured out which area is your strength or actually which one where you want to gain strength, go pull yourself together, get the mouse in your hand and bravely start to take steps:
1. Picture your dreamjob.
(Daydream, talk, write about it in your notebook, whatever makes you feel good)
2. Make your researches.
(Read grouptalks, forums, instructional books, follow your examplar’s activity: learn from the right sources)
3. Create a public and followable interface of you and your theme.
(Totally depends on you what style you choose: natural, clownish, elegant, ironic, etc)
4. Communicate! Advertise yourself, your products or your service.
(Social media gives you endless options like making webpage, blog, vlog, facebook group, etc)
5. Highlight what you’re really good in.
(One of the very basic example if you don’t know: start a blog where you just asking questions and create polls about your interest or more things, advertise and share, so later you can build your main page or channel based on enough answers and visits)
6. Refresh and always note down your ideas.
(You can’t be always at your pc or laptop calmly with enough time, buy a pocket sized notebook which you can take anywhere or use your handphone for making sketches, so if you feel inspired your writings remains)
7. Ask opinions.
(No need to be afraid of that, always be grateful if someone helps you with their comments, nice words give you more dynamism, or you may get know what you have to sharpen still, but don’t listen to the critics which demotivates, that means actually you’re on a good way 😊)
8. Enjoy every detail of your edit!
(Since every little inch is the result of your hand, a bit essence of you, you deserve to be satisfied. Dive in this euphoric feeling and realise how handy you are!)
9. Take your meditations, pray and wear your hijab proudly!
(Always say thanks to Allah for being succesful, rich, healthy and beloved by Him. Allah loves decided believers and going to hold your hand to turn you the right direction in sha Allah)
I have also my own examplars and cannot stop admiring them and working from the inspiration they give me. Make duaa for them, for your environment, for your family, for the unfriendly neighbour, for every good and bad, even for a tree or a halm, if they helps you to keep going on the right path, coz without them you wouldn’t be inspired. You know, no clock which gears work without oil. 😊
Ah, one more step still missing:
10. ____________________
Everyone have their own plus method how to bring out the best of themselves. The best rule there’s no rule. Always listen to the people how they give you their opinion: they helps you to open the door or open it for you and ask you to enter? The last one doesn’t take you to the road of your self-realization, but other one’s wants.
